Oppose STPM? Here is why.
Through out human history as we know there is 4 biggest
industries revolution that have occurred in the world. The 1st Industry
Revolution which is the Mechanical Production, where factorises were being
powered by steam power and car was produced. The 2nd Industries Revolution
which is the Mass Production, where electricity was being discovered and
factorises powered by power supply. The 3rd Industries Revolution
which is called as the Digital Era where computers and electronic is produced
and factorises was powered by automation machine. The 4th Industries
Revolution, which is now, the era of cyber-physical system where everything is
interconnected together and machine perform task base on a big amount of data
and information.
So today I would like to focus on the fourth industry
revolution and emphasize on Artificial Intelligence (AI). As we can see the
emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) have keep on proven that AI is capable
of performing human task faster and more accurate than human could do. There is
research being done by Google’s director of engineering Ray Kurzweil that said,
“By 2029, computers will be able to outsmart even the most intelligent humans
in the world.” And there is another report that was being done, told that soon AI
will be going to replace 75 Million jobs but no worries 133 million new jobs will
be created in the same time. Which mean in the future we need new kind of work
force, we need people who possesses soft skills like leadership skills,
communication skill, collaboration skill and more. So the question here is “Are
we being prepared enough to face our future? Are we ready to go through the
biggest transition in our life? I don’t know if you are ready or not but what I
know, our education system is not preparing us enough.
The problem arises when our education system, society and
even our self is focusing on the wrong things. Most of the time we focus on
developing “What We Are”, instead of “Who We Are”. When we are talking about “What
We Are”, we are talking about the grades that we get, the exam result, the certificate
we acquire and more, which are all external possession and make us to be more materialistic
and judgemental. Instead our education system, society and even our self should
focus on developing “Who We Are”. When we are talking about “Who We Are”, we
are talking about characteristic, personality, passion and more, which are all
internal possession of our self. And this is what we should focus on;
developing someone who have a purpose to live, someone who have a clear vision
of what they want and someone who knows how to sympathize others and more.
Years after years we are being programmed and lie that the
way to achieve ultimate success is to score well and follow what we are being
told to do. I am sure most of us have heard this kind of statement like “SPM is
the most important exam that you will face, you better score well otherwise I
can’t guarantee about your future!”. And then somehow, we end up in STPM. And
again in STPM we heard statement like “STPM is the most important exam, it is a
ticket for you to get into University, if you don’t score well you can’t get
into well-known University!” and HERE WE GO AGAIN. Years and years, we have
been programmed to focus on the wrong things, of course I don’t blame you on
that and I shall blame no one. I am here to help you realize and prepare what
you need in the future.
As for my message here, for those who can score well in exam
good, go ahead, maintain it and for those who didn’t score well, tell yourself
that it is okay, try your best to get into University, where you will be given
a platform to develop all the soft skills that you will need for in the future.
Soft skills can never be developed by oneself but only can be develop with a group
or with a team of people, human interaction and human connection is what all of
us need for our lifetime. Most importantly always and always discover “Who You
Really Are”, do the things that you care about, fix your weakness and play with
your strength and always take care the people on the left of you and the people
on the right of you. Empathy, I believe is something so valuable for our future
and it is a key factor that differentiate us between human and robot. Together
is always better.
